Lotus Glow

You ARE Enough.
Hometown: Paris, France
Age: 32
Musical Influences: George Clinton, Rick James, Prince, The Neptunes

When I tell you this album has me in a mean chokehold right now—I am barely able to listen to anything else. From Adi's bold voice, the lyrics, production, to the arrangement, and THAT BASS.. She literally put her whole FOOT in this album. And the fact she learned how to play this instrument recently because a bassist flaked on her at the last minute is admirable. So let's dig in, shall we!

The album starts off smooth as butter with a tease in Le De'part. You will wish it was longer, but have no fear. Just keep listening until the end. I will admit, I did not start with the first track, but the track i started with set the tone for my personal album listening party. I only tapped on Marigold because i liked the title, but I had no idea it would be the standout track. I played it 10x in a row before I could start from the top. It's about being just enough. In the era of likes, views, and filters even the most secure human will start to question their looks or capabilities. Marigold reminds us that we're perfect in whatever skin we are in. We all are uniquely and beautifully made. Honestly, the entire album encompasses the aspect of security—a sense of knowing who you are so when the world comes at us sideways, we are aware "ITS ALL BULLSHIT". I remember when Awaken My Love dropped and the feeling I had during my first listen. Lotus Glow releases the same energy through the speakers. It feels good, and it has replay value. I honestly can't wait to get on my bonus kids nerves on Saturday mornings. Those scam-boogers WILL know real music.

Another favorite, Dumpalltheguns, is a conscious jam. Reminds me of Childish Gambino's Boogieman. It's no surprise that both artists are students of the Funk genre. The breakdown at the hook is *chefs kiss*. Multiply is another standout track. I wasn't expecting her to scream about her ovaries calling, but hell, I'm screaming about my ovaries too because that song is so groovy.

I really could go all night about this project, but I'd rather play it until I fall asleep for the second week in a row. Let me know how Lotus Glow makes you feel in the comments below. Peace.
