For the last few days, I've noticed everyone weighing in on deciding who is the R&B king of our generation. Since R&B is my first love, i believe I'm able to confirm: Jacquees isn't it. Although, I'm impressed with and completely understand his confidence....
At least not now. Maybe in the next decade and after a few more voice lessons.. we can come back to this discussion.
As for the R&B King of my generation, it can either go to R. Kelly or Usher Raymond. I hate the mess R. Kelly constantly puts himself in, but the guy writes, produces, and performs hits. People are still sampling his music and lyrics no matter how trash of a human he is and/or continues to be. In his case , I'll just separate the art from the artist.
Usher has been famous and releasing hits my entire life as well. Look at the man's catalog. He puts on one hell of a show - no one has put on a better show live once seeing him during the Confessions era. Yes, no one. Not even Beyonce. The man was flipping all over chairs and other dancers and voice didn't shake one bit.
Both men are powerhouses, but there can only be one King of R&B. Take all of the personal issues and allegations out of consideration and focus on their music alone.
Who do you choose?
