Green Twins

Rating: ****

"Green Twins" opens with admiring a woman who has life growing inside of her, and the entire journey of a man and woman. The work. Becoming one, and growing through the ups and downs. Hakim was able to give life to each track's title through the nostalgic melodies and intoxicating vocals. If my current dating life could have a soundtrack attached to it, this album would be it.

Check out the video above and tell me this doesn't sound therapeutic AF!

I had the pleasure of seeing him at Fitzgerald’s when he opened for KING (Another delight) in October of last year. He seemed high as shit honestly, but that can breed the freshest music. That same week, I went back and listened to some of his previous work, including Where Will We Go Pt 1 & 2 and fell in love with his voice. He sounds the same, if not better, live in concert. The ONLY reason I gave this album 4 out of 5 stars is because I'm unable to understand the lyrics in a lot of the songs. But considering the person I am, I just make up my own. Since Green Twins was released in May, I haven't skipped a day of playing at least one song from this project. His debut album did not disappoint.

Below, I have highlighted my favorite tracks:

Green Twins. Sets the tone for the rest of the album as it should considering its also the name of the album. Almost like a thesis for the entire project.

Roller Skates. This reminds me of a fresh love - innocent and fun. The honeymoon stages.

Farmissplease. "Had to fix myself by drinking more, smoking good.. Feeling on ya" He was hollering like a Baptist choir on this song. This song took some time to grow on me, but now its my second fave.

Those Days (feat. Onyx Collective). For some odd reason, this song reminds me of a 60's Motown release with a millennial twist.

The Want. I hear a little Marvin Gaye in this track. It oozes Sex Appeal. My Absolute FAVE on Green Twins .
