I had the pleasure of meeting this guy at The Bronze Peacock Room (House of Blues) in May of this year, and it was nothing short of amazing. Smino's such an humble soul and I admired the fact, he had the show ROCKING....in crutches.
Peep the Air Forced crutches below:
At The Peacock Room:
This man should have been on the cover of XXL's Freshman Class 2017, but I will refrain from bitching about that cover on today. I first discovered Smino when the single "Blkswn" came across my SoundCloud in February. When I found myself placing this song on repeat every payday, I decided to delve into his older projects, Blkjuptr and S!ck S!ck S!ck, and fell in love with his Midwest sound.
His debut album, Blkswn, was impressive. The opener, Wild Irish Roses, was very smooth and set the tone for the rest of the album. He covers topics such as the appreciation of a woman, the grind on progressing in the music industry and life, and uplifting and teaching our people to think and do better. This isn't just an album to play during its hype; Its Solid with limited features, and I can see myself playing this project in the years to come. I'm eager to see what's in store for Smino.
He gets it.
